Great Anger

Anger is one of our root emotions. There is a huge amount of energy tied up with anger. In the body it becomes inflammation of all kinds, and eventually, stagnation. In our psyche it tends to express itself as resentment, shame, hatred, disgust, envy, rage, frustration and probably a few other ways I don't recall or have never thought of. In behavior, both verbal and physical, anger can be very hurtful and destructive. Some people respond by saying, anger can also be assertion and force which is often very useful. That's not anger. That's the energy that is used by anger but used for other means.

All of the above are samples of how anger gets disowned, buried, projected or transferred because we recognize it as unhealthy or unwanted. Many people just burn out on their anger and become hopeless or wrecked. Often that is because all our spiritual technologies and all our psychotherapeutic technologies and all our biological technologies have failed us in that they have failed to get to the heart of great anger.

Once anger is completely owned, it is brought back from all those other, aforementioned forms of expression, and faced directly, in all its seemingly chaotic and uncontrolled rabidness, something astonishing can happen.

Great anger has an essence, a heart essence. In other words, go into the center of the storm and you find the gift. That gift is none other than the soul itself, the basic life principle, the I Am-ness, the unceasing joy of existence.

Who knew? Actually, very few. It takes courage and resolve to own all the anger and also develop the kind of self capable of facing it without judgement, embracing it, and then penetrating to its essence. And until recently there have been very few resources, and very little aware articulation about the nature of great anger and its true nature.

When the world begins to discover this, what anger really is, and what it can give us, one of the biggest knots in the psyche of humanity will be untied once and for all. The world inside and out is filled with such huge amounts of anger because this knot exists in the collective psyche, and is passed on to every living human. But imagine if that were not so. What would the world be filled with if the essence was what predominated everywhere.

That would be different wouldn't it.
